TINA: Simply the best

Tina Turner was born Anna Mae Bullock in 1939. Her amazing career spanned over 50 years.

She overcame insurmountable odds on more than one occasion, but she never gave up. She earned the title as "The Queen of Rock and Roll" and was one of the most successful solo artists in history.

Tina retired from the music industry in 2009 saying, "I am done. I am tired. I just want to live in retirement." Having spent over 50 years performing to make other people happy, she was ready to step aside from her long and successful career to focus on herself and her partner.

She passed away today, May 24 in Switzerland, where she became a citizen in 2013. Here she is in 2009, performing live in the Netherlands with her song "The Best."
