Crawfish, accordions, a washboard, and cajun spice! Let's warm things up for a Mardi Gras party-- with a visit to the history and popularity of Cajun, Zydeco and NOLA music! We'll dive into the music that is unique to the bayou, filled with cultural history and infectious rhythms, instrumentation and dance. Bring some hot sauce to this presentation! You'll love the music and learn more about how these French and Spanish traditions, merge with Indigenous and African influences to create these popular styles (feat. Buckwheat Zydeco, Beausoleil, Tab Benoit, The Neville Brothers, and more). Grab a hurricane rum drink or a cold beverage of your choice, then sit back and enjoy! This presentation will run 1.5 hours with 15 min of Q&A from the attendees. Class will be streamed and recorded for replay on-demand.
