Two of the most influential bandleaders of the Swing era: Duke Ellington and Benny Goodman. Dance music was king during the 1930’s and into the 1940’s. These two men would bring the music that grew up in Harlem to the rest of America with hits like “Sing, Sing, Sing,” “Satin Doll,” “Take the A Train” and “King Porter Stomp” and more.  So many influences from these two bandleaders to discuss!  Two sessions, each 2 hours of lecture full of stories, videos, music and information, plus 15 minutes of Q&A with the attendees. Class will be streamed and recorded for replay on-demand.
