Just weeks ago, musician Dash Crofts passed away following complications from heart surgery, joining his longtime musical partner Jim Seals, who died in 2022. Together, as Seals & Crofts, they were one of the defining duos of the 1970s soft rock era. This presentation begins with their early lives in Texas and their first meeting as members of The Champs, tracing their journey to becoming highly successful recording artists. We will explore their early recordings, their breakthrough with “Summer Breeze,” and the string of chart-topping hits that followed. Signature songs such as “Diamond Girl,” “Hummingbird,” and “We May Never Pass This Way Again” highlight their distinctive style, marked by rich vocal harmonies, acoustic instrumentation, and spiritually influenced songwriting. Along the way, behind-the-scenes stories will provide insight into their collaborations, life on the road, and the challenges they faced in a rapidly changing music industry. Presentation will run 1 hour--class will be recorded for replay on-demand.
