In this one and half hour class, we’ll dive into the story of the Traveling Wilburys—rock’s most charming and unlikely supergroup. Formed almost by accident in the late 1980s, the Wilburys brought together George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, and Jeff Lynne for a project that mixed humor, humility, and a deep love of songwriting. We’ll trace how these legends came together, explore the songs that made their two albums so memorable, and discuss how the group managed to feel effortless despite the heavyweight talent involved. More than just a footnote in their individual careers, the Wilburys captured a rare kind of musical joy—one rooted in friendship, spontaneity, humility and mutual respect. Presentation will run 1.5 hours--class will be recorded for replay on-demand.
